Mass Media: a term that has been used since the 1920s and has been used to describe those forms of media designated to reach large audiences which are perceived to have shared interests.
Public Sphere: a space in which individuals can come together to debate and discuss the pressing issues in their society.
Convergence: a term used in the 1990s to describe the coming together of media forms and has resulted in the merger of such previously discrete instruments and technologies as the still camera, the video camera, the telephone, the Internet, and the video screen.
Critique: the process of analyzing and drawing conclusions from the media.
According to the authors, the digital culture has changed our media paradigm since the advent of "Mass Media" through the improvement in technology. Media has evolved to give more freedom to any individual and not just big corporations. Through the use of cameras, video cameras, iPods, video cameras, and cell phones that connect to the computer, individuals have the ability to be the consumers as well as the producers.
