The author's argument about the entertainment media is that there is no longer creativity in what we see, we are seeing the same thing over and over again. We learn to imitate what we see because that is all with are given and it restricts us from changing from who we are. The good kind of entertainment, art is the one that we can learn from, it is the personal and gives us new ideas about living. It gives us room to interpret information our own way, not the way that we are told to.
With the newer interactive entertainment media, like youtube and facebook, I believe that he would be able to see that they are both forms of art. The videos on youtube represent what people are generally interested in. People can express themselves in any way they want through videos which include blogs, singing, playing an instrument, etc. Everything is done entirely their own, no one forces them to come up with their ideas or to post them. Everyone is inspired to do what they love and youtube is the perfect place to show that. It is a place where other people with the same interests can come together unlike with entertainment media, not all shows that people like are on TV but they can be youtube.
With facebook, it kind of the same idea but you have a bit more control as to who can see your account. There is the obvious difference of being able to do more that have videos, you can have a blog or notes, post pictures, join groups, and search just for certain people. You are still able to express yourself through your status updates, the groups you join and your pictures. Again many people are affected by what people decide to post on their profiles. Everything that they say are truly theirs and bring in a sense of originality.
