Blog 5 - Manifestoon

Marx's description of economy relates to Chomsky's model because they both talk about ownership. Marx describes it as "whose products are consumed, no only at home, but in every quarter of the globe." He also describes that the bourgeoisie are the money makers, with the good jobs, lawyers, doctors, etc. They are the ones that are being affected the most by the market because they have representatives in the government and are more important. This reminded in Chomsky's model of how there are about 30 companies that own every brand that we know. For example how Disney owns abc, Disney channel, and other companies that filter down their line of hierarchy. There are many groups of people that are supposedly a higher class to people in society due to what Marx said about jobs, representation in government and the money we earn in our jobs.
Both of these authors bring up the idea of advertising as well and how it could be exploited. Marx describes this with the idea of a sorcerer that cannot control his powers because he has made up too many spells already. That there is so much going on in society that we can't even keep up with what we are doing.Chomsky talks about how advertising is everywhere and how it shapes the media and life we live in. We are constantly being exploited by having too much media in our lives. It is in the news we read, the restrooms we use and often posted everywhere we go.
Both talk about how their is a heirachy in society and how they control most of society and market. Both show that through their connections that information given our to society is often biased and never really give the people a chance to say what they are thinking. They are often seen as just the workers that always go against the upper class. All the the middle and lower class can do is to go out and come together and try to find solutions to the problems that face their communities.
