Manufacturing Consent
Perhaps the most effective visual technique in Chomsky's film was the use of historical flashbacks and documentary footage. Chomsky often used these clips to enhance his fundamental view on the persuasive powers of media. One notable example is some footage of Nazi Germany and Hitler. In order to properly portray the magnitude and significance of propaganda, Chomsky illustrated the most relevant times in history where media played a large influence. By showing the viewer firsthand how relevant media is in society, Chomsky is also revealing a fundamental danger in the fact that people base their opinions on media made by other people. The "Propaganda Model", subsequently, is further emphasized as the historical footage provides evidence fir the "manufacturing" of idealogies. The Nazi scene, for example, showed Hitler's ability to spread his ideas to many people and societies. He used media to reach out to the mass audiences and make them beleive that whatever he thought was just and right.
