I thought it was interesting how the film used footage from some of the radio and television ads Noam Chomsky has do in the past, Noam Chomsky has to uses the same technologies he criticizes.
I especially liked the interview with the British man who was obviously trying to antagonize Chomsky. The interviewer at one point said something to the effect of “if everyone is doing the wrong thing than it’s not the wrong thing.” This is obviously not true. It seemed like he had his own agenda in mind while interviewing Chomsky. This is connected to Chomsky’s Propaganda Model because during the interview the British guy (sorry I don’t know his name) was trying to make of Noam Chomsky, which is one of the dumbest things you can attempt to do. Noam Chomsky is one of the world’s most respected scholars; I think it would take more than a TV host to frazzle him. But the interviewers attempt is what is important. Had he succeeded in portraying Chomsky as just another crackpot philosopher he would be totally discredited. Getting his message out to the public how have been very difficult. This shows the power of television and its’ influence on society. How a person or issue is portrayed in the media is crucial to understanding how the people who control the portrayals that are shown control society.
