Presentation Summary

During part one of my experiment I realized how much time I spent on the internet. The only time I have privacy is when I’m at home and my roommate is out. I never realized how media driven my internet usage is. For some reason I thought I was spending a lot of time reading various blogs and random info, really I just watch media.

Being in public always makes me more self-conscious. When I went to my friends’ house I just throw on a t-shirt and jeans. When we were in line at In & Out I began to feel self-conscious about what I was wearing. I started to notice things about myself that I didn’t like. Conversely, when I know I’m going to be around people and I try to look good then I feel confident in a crowd.

Media is important to public self because a lot of the time people go out because they are going to spend money. We want to look cool in public so we want the jeans from the ad it cosmo we saw so we go out in public to the mall and buy them.

I job interview is a great instance where it is important to be in your public persona. In this situation you need to present yourself as totally normal or that you at least know the social norms most people live by on a daily basis.
