Article: The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

Benjamin discusses the significance of a piece of creative work’s “aura”—something it accumulates through the process of creation. However, the increasing reliance upon technology to make a replication removes its aura (essentially, its significance), rendering it entirely empty and devoid of its aura.
